✦ FOUNDER

Arghya

Founder & Curator, Mwktai

I'm from Tripura. Growing up, I saw artisans who had mastered crafts that took generations to perfect — and yet struggled to find buyers beyond their village. The skill was extraordinary. The reach was not. Mwktai is my attempt to close that gap — to make sure the hands that create these things are the ones who benefit most from them.

Co-Founder, Mwktai

I believe that the soul of Tripura lies in the rhythm of the loom and the whisper of bamboo groves. Our vision is to transform the indigenous artistry of our nineteen tribes from a local treasure into a global lifestyle. We are not just selling products — we are preserving a heartbeat. Every weave and every carving is a piece of Tripura's history, remembering our home.

✦   THE VISION   ✦

We don't just sell cloth.
We sell memory.

Tripura's weavers have spent a thousand years perfecting the language of thread — colours that tell tribal stories, patterns that encode festivals, silver that marks rites of passage. Mwktai exists so that language is never forgotten.

Our mission is simple and non-negotiable: every artisan gets a fair price, every tradition gets a future, and every customer gets something genuinely irreplaceable — not a product manufactured in a factory, but a piece of someone's heritage, made by hand, with intent.

"The loom does not forget what the world forgets."
